This large sprawling housing estate is built over old mine shafts that spiderweb the underlying geology of Whickham.
Numerous houses in this modern (25-30 years old) estate have experienced strange sounds, light anomalies, cold spots and minor poltergeist activity.
One particular house has experienced someone screaming in the occupants' ears while they sleep, and another has experienced the sound of running footsteps, feelings of not being alone, lights being turned on and off, heating being manually adjusted. Recently, a medium from Surrey visited the house (knowing nothing of the area's historical background) and said there was a young miner boy running around the house.
